Portable satellite dish for sky tv? Hi. I cannot use SKY satellite service as there is no way to fix the dish in our apartment. Are there any portable solutions that can be kept inside home in combination with the digicomp? Thanks
How do I use a satellite finder with a portable satellite dish? I am trying to set up a portable satellite dish for use with a TV and receiver in my RV. I was trying to make it work at home so I know what to do when I get to the campsite. I followed the directions that came with the satellite finder and the portable satellite dish. I powered up the receiver which gave me the azmuth and elevation for the satellite dish, but I cannot get the satellite finder to work. It is brand new - a Winegard SF-1000. I attached the coax which I attached to the TV port (I don't know what to call this, but it is where I attach a coax when the camp ground furnishes satellite or cable TV and all I have to do is turn on the TV and it works) on the outside of the RV to the TO RCVR side of the satellite finder, so the satellite finder is between the dish and the receiver. The receiver has power, but the satellite finder doesn't. Am I doing something wrong? This is the portable satellite dish I am using: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=12618&ta
How much does it cost to get broadband via phoneline and satellite tv in Russia? Preferably always on broadband. Not dial up. If someone just bought a regular satellite dish and hooked it up on say the balcony of an apartment would you get English language tv channels in Russia? I guess you can also get English lanuage tv via a cable provider (non-dish)? Can you get internet via on of those little portable modems that you plug into your laptop? Any idea of the prices? Thanks
does Disney's pop century resort have cable or satellite TV? And do you get more than just the Disney channel? This may sound like an odd question but I have a good reason for asking it, LoL. We are staying at pop century and my son has a small portable flat screen TV, if the resort has regular cable we can hook it up for him so he'll have his own TV to watch while we are there, however if it is satellite, i don't know if I can hook it up of not? Also is it true that you only get the Disney channel? Someone told me that and I was just wondering if it was true.
caravan portable tv reception? on most caravan sites that i visit the TV reception is hopeless,i have a portable flat screen TV with built in free-view, i am thinking of purchasing a portable TVcaravanng kit which contains a 38cm satellite dish a receiver and all the gubbings to go with it, is all this necessary or is there another way round it, also what is the difference between a receiver and a free-view box
What do I need to watch TV on my laptop ? I have a laptop with windows. Got the built in wireless. I would like to be able to use my laptop as a portable tv. What do I need to buy ? I don't want to hook up to cable or antenna. On-line live shows don't download with a steady stream making it hard to watch sports. I think I could do better grabbing the signal. Do I need a decoder for the satellite signals ? Thanks.
Has anyone ever received the portable DVD player the liars at Direct TV promise? AT&T talked me into doing the bundle package for my dsl, satellite & phone. Nothing is as they promised. I didn't know a huge company like that could get away with such blatant lies. The list is long about what AT&T said I would be getting & what is not truth. I'm curious if ANYONE has ever received the dvd player they have in their promos.
whats the better for this football season? The Sirius satellite radio or a portable Tv. I like The Browns, But I live in Los Angeles, and I know I don't to watch the raiders every sunday and just watch the highlights of my team on the local news. I was wondering if the Satellite radio is the better buy?
What cord(S)/Cable(s) do i need do play Wii/xBox on my laptop? I recently bought a Toshiba satellite with a 17'' screen and thought it would be nice to use like a portable TV, it doesn't have Video and Sound input ports. is there any cord out there that i can plug into a USB port that will allow me to do so? Any help would be great! :)
TV Reception? i just bought a cabana on the beach and i want to put a tv in it so i can watch espn and baseball during the summer, but i cant get cable and i doubt i can get a full size satellite dish. Is there any way i can get reception without any of those things. I want to use a full size TV not a portable.
Are you ready for Digital Tv ? I suppose most of us are ready for Digital tv because of cabel and Satellite feeds but are you prepared for the change from the analog to digital signal? I have cabel but i have one old black and white 12 in portable with rabbit ears on it. This tv will be missed when the cabel company has problems and no signal at all and it's not worth the cost to buy the converter box. You can apply for coupons for a free converter box if you don’t have a digital-ready TV set or cable and satellite hook up. First come first served basis. http://www.aarp.org/money/consumer/articles/digital_tv.html?cmp=NLC-WBLTR-CTRL-120508-F4 https://www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx

How expensive would it be to get a digital phone line added to a rural home? If that is possible.? I live in a rural part of Georgetown, Ontario. The only type of internet I can get here is Bell WiMax portable high speed. It runs at 2-3 mbps download and about .50 mbps upload. DSL is not available due to my phone line not being digital or something. They said this would be installed eventually, but I really need DSL now so that I can get have speeds of 12mbps or higher for online gaming / home networking. I am mainly looking into bell DSL for fast internet. I get 12mbps download speed for only $40/mth. If anyone could post back and tell me if its possible to pay someone to install a digital phone line or install it myself please post back with pricing. By the way, I cant get cable where I live either, only satellite tv.I read online that if I sign some sort of a contract to stay with a companies internet service for a long time, they would possibly install it for me for free.

You should be thankful. Clinton would never help out England in such a way. Electronic televisions were invented in America. http://www.tvhistory.tv/Philo.htm "They achieved the first fully electronic television picture on September 7, 1927, with the transmission of a straight line. Later that year, they successfully transmitted a 'puff of smoke' from Cliff's cigarette.' An American invented refigeration: "Perkins also invented an early refrigerator (really an ether ice machine). " http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/bljacobperkins.htm America invented the electronic calculator. Any references to an 1960's english calculator are irrelevant: "In 1954, IBM, in the U.S.A., demonstrated a large all-transistor calculator and, in 1957, the company released the first commercial all-transistor calculator" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calculator#The_development_of_electronic_calculators The U.S. invented the VCR. They were custom machines used by TV show makers to record shows for storage or later playback. An American (Jack Mullen) invented the technology sold by Ampex. "Ampex revolutionised the radio and recording industry with its famous Model 200 tape deck, developed directly from Mullin's modified Magnetophones" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Mullin Jack Mullen and Wayne R. Johnson invented the electronics to record video onto audio tapes. "Bing Crosby Enterprises (BCE) gave the world's first demonstration of a videotape recording in Los Angeles on November 11, 1951. Developed by John T. Mullin and Wayne R. Johnson since 1950" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videotape#Open_reel The integrated circuit was invented in America. Drummer's attempt (1956) at making one didn't work. "The first integrated circuits were manufactured independently by two scientists: Jack Kilby [American] of Texas Instruments filed a patent for a "Solid Circuit" made of germanium on February 6, 1959. Kilby received patents U.S. Patent 3,138,743 , U.S. Patent 3,138,747 , U.S. Patent 3,261,081 , and U.S. Patent 3,434,015"..."Robert Noyce[American] of Fairchild Semiconductor was awarded a patent for a more complex "unitary circuit" made of Silicon on April 25, 1961. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuit#The_birth_of_the_IC Microwave oven: America invented the microwave oven using American technology. A microwave oven works on the principle of using microwaves (generated from another American invention) to move and create friction mainly in water molecules in food. Sounds simple to make but it is not. One of the most difficult problems was finding the microwave frequency that worked best for heating water. It was a problem because the inventor only had access to 1940's technology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microwave_oven. About magnetrons ("microwave generators"), they were invented in America. Modified ones were used by England during WW2. "two-pole magnetrons were developed in the 1920s by Albert Hull at General Electric's Research Laboratories (Schenectady, New York)" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavity_magnetron#History Also a important American invention is the Audion: "De Forest is one of the fathers of the "electronic age", as the Audion helped to usher in the widespread use of electronics" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_DeForest The first working transistor was invented in America. It was one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. "John Bardeen and Walter Brattain and William Shockley received the Nobel Prize in 1956 for the invention of the transistor." http://inventors.about.com/library/weekly/aa061698.htm http://www.pbs.org/transistor/background1/events/miraclemo.html http://www.cedmagic.com/history/transistor-1947.html Edison invented the first "working" lightbulb. He received two patents for it.
Televised Sports in the 21st Century I recently invested in one of these new fangled satellite dish thingies to widen the viewing on my 15 inch portable. I came across an American channel showing a lot of young men playing rounders. Why is this school girl sport being shown on TV and what happened to the good old sport of ruggers? Moreover, why did some of these boys feel the need to wear protective face wear, are they a nation of wimps?
Rogers in Alberta...? Does Rogers have any plans to expand their Internet and Cable services into Alberta? I know they already have portable internet, but I was wondering if they have plans to launch their High-Speed Internet and Digital TV services in Alberta. They offer these services in Ontario already. When will they launch internet and digital cable in Alberta? Shaw offers absolutely garbage. Their internet sucks along with their cable. Telus has too many problems and I don't want satellite from Bell. So does anyone know when Rogers will offer High-Speed Internet and digital cable in Alberta?
What is this HDTV takeover on televisions about in February? Does this mean unless we have a HDTV or satelite or cable with HD we can't watch. I have several room sizeTVs and several portable for carrying on vacation or to work or wherever. Does this mean we will not be able to watch our TV's . I can't afford to go and buy special equipment or new HDTVs just to watch TV. In fact, there are millions of people who all can't afford to buy adaptable equipment. As the world knows, television is the poor man's entertainment. There is the elderly, the shut ins and many others who depend on their TVS that use outside or tv attached antennaes. Most of my TVs rely on the attached aereal antennae. Who came up with this idea? Whose pockets is this going to pad from the changeover? and, most of all, Why do this to so many people when what we had worked and was available to everyone free, other than the electricity used. If people have satellite or cable, it is their choice to pay for it. If I am all wrong about HDTV please let me and the millions of others who don't understand, know. Thank you
FFXI graphics are messed up...? I have installed both Warhammer online and FFXI on my Toshiba Satellite model A305-S6858 which has Vista on it. Warhammer looks fine however FFXI isn't looking correct with mostly the characters and mobs in the game. They flicker and appear to only show some of the colors or all the colors and parts of the character or mob are missing. I'm not sure what settings I need to change if I can to make this work correctly. I have installed the newest DirectX and video drivers and still not working properly and this is even after I reinstalled the OS. Which I did for other reason. I am probably giving more info than needed or maybe not enough.. However if someone can direct me the direction needed to get this solved I would be most greatful! Thanks ahead of time! Its a specail fix for the graphic issue I am having...so if anyone knows of where I can find it that would be great! Untill then I will keep searching. Thanks! A friend of mine found a link on intels site that has the 64 bit version downloadable. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2800&lang=eng If link wont work, just do the following: You go to Intels main page click downloads under work section. (takes you to a new window) Select "Graphics" on the left side Select "laptop graphic contollers" Select "Mobile Intel 965 express chipset family" (takes you to a new window) Just select the OS and go from there. As of last night they did have the vista home premium for downloading. I am not sure for the othe other os downloads. Hope this helps out! When I edit the question stating about the 64 bit driver being found, that was when I had the issue resolved... So thanks to you all for replying. Just glad I can play now with graphics back to normal.
Help with Dad Christmas gift - VERY hard to buy for - PLEASE HELP!!!!!!? Good looking, 55 yr. old VP of construction firm. He has everything he needs or wants! He drinks beer (only) and smokes cigars but only a certain kind (gift baskets with various types are not an option - I've tried). He restored a car, but it's perfected and nothing I could know is needed. ('57 Bel Aire) He works with tools but owns every type - probably more than one, he's already told me that. He wears cologne, but can't smell! He's a freemason, but I've exhausted all gifts that relate He golfs, but has brand new clubs, bag, shoes, magazine subscr. He already stocks up on golf balls and tees. He has a brand new computer, and doesn't care for any other tech-related items. He buys new clothes all the time and hates my taste (he's a bit, um, unstylish) He's fun - but have jokingly bought him nerf guns, portable videogames and remote control cars in the past. No hunting or fishing or bowling. He loves food - but a "meat and potatoes" type of guy - one that already has Omaha steaks deliver all the time. No sweet tooth. Will not watch a movie twice, nor tv shows. He gets gift cards from clients all the time. No ties. Renovating the house - well, hired help is He gardens, but barely. Tomatoes and squash only, I think. Likes jewelry, but his taste is not affordable. Doesn't care for sports - goes to some NFL games, but not a true "fan" New wallet. His type of watches wouldn't suit my budget. He already has a stack of books he claims to be "getting a start on" Mom deals with decor. Nothing like that would be of interest. No work gear and he has a company car. GPS, cell phone and accessories are redundant. Travels so much for work, he doesn't care to go for pleasure. Travel items - luggage, travel pillows, etc. would never be used. He's practical. We have a huge inground pool. Mom buys the fun stuff, and other people come to clean. We have a game room - likes billards and darts - new balls, cues, chalk-holder even. Table was recently recovered and whole dartboard set-up is new. Has an outdoor firepit - had two, gave me one- He already have me his old patio furniture that was from this summer, he didn't like it. He has all the music he cares for, I've tried to buy him some and he either already had it or didn't care b /c he has satellite radio. Would not be caught dead at a concert. Does his own lawn, oddly enough. He has all the needs, like mower, leaf blower, weed eater, pesticides... ANY other ideas? In reality he's fun but honestly has all the necessities. Therefore, I need a unique gift that isn't generic - but must be practical too. He's not a fan of "gifting for the sake of gifting." Also, not religious. I think all of you have given me some great ideas! Not sure which I'll pick, but I'll def check out some of the websites you all recommended. He loves nice wallets, and his are always getting worn out. As for the classic car stuff, I just have no idea where to begin - he's not the type for "novelty" items like keychains and such, but maybe I could get out of him if he'd like a new gear stick or seat covers - his car is bad-a and I get it eventually! The utopia beer from Sam Adams is a great idea (I worked at a liquor store all through college and we had the really neat looking metal bottle) for the connoisseur, but my dad likes bud and bud only...
