Battery Operated Televisions

What do I need to watch TV on my laptop ?

I have a laptop with windows. Got the built in wireless. I would like to be able to use my laptop as a portable tv. What do I need to buy ? I don't want to hook up to cable or antenna. On-line live shows don't download with a steady stream making it hard to watch sports. I think I could do better grabbing the signal. Do I need a decoder for the satellite signals ? Thanks.

  1. You can buy the TV tuner card and watch TV on your laptop or desktop.
  2. just buy a USB tv card - many have freeview built in too
  3. Here is a list of USB capable TV tuners. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=usb+tuner You can't legally decode Satellite signals without a set-top box from your Satellite provider. And as you can imagine how ridiculous would that look hooked up to your laptop!
  4. I have done this for my Vista Premium PC in the last week.! ;) I have a built in Digital Tuner on my PC so all i had to do was plug in a Digital Aerial in the Coaxial Port and tune in the Channel's;s in Media Centre and that's it,..it was up and working fine. You need to find out if you already have a Tuner built in on you're PC(go to you're Laptops website to find out you're Specs) if you do then you do what i did,..as i described above. If you don't have a Tuner on you're PC you wil need o buy one. The easier way to get one,..is to buy one of theses>http://www.wikihow.com/Connect-an-External-Tv-Tuner-Card-to-Your-Desktop as all you do is load on the software in you're Disc drive and once installed plug in the USB end to you're Laptop Port.(USB) If you know a bi more about the workings of PCs then you can buy an internal one,..and fit it into the PCI slot on you're Motherboard. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/mediacenter/getstarted/wmc-on-tv.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/mediacenter/getstarted/tuners-remotes.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/mediacenter/getstarted/videos_tv.mspx This should help you out allot: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-conn...
