How does the 2009 digital TV change affect my 5" portable emergency television?
I have a little 5 inch screen analog TV that operates on either 120v house current, Eight D Cell batteries or a 12 Volt cigarette lighter outlet in my vehicles. I use this little TV for when my electricity goes out in storms to keep up with the weather warnings in my area. It just has an antenna connected directly to it, no RCA plugs or any other way to connect a converter box. Is there any other way to adapt this little TV to receive a digital signal or do I have to junk it and buy one that is compatible with the new digital TV signal?

- There is no practical way to convert it to digital, so when they turn off analogue it will be junk.
- You can take it to a shop and have them put an antenna plug on it for you so you can use a converter box. But it won't do you much good since you will need 110 for the converter box. I know the pits. And I don't like the new wide screens. They make Nicole Riche look like Rosey O'Donnel and Rosey O'Donnel look like the Good Year blimp.
- After the change, you'll be free to enjoy the weather first-hand because bad weather can cut off your digital signal as well. I have a dish that thick cloud cover affects now. You may want to buy a radio if you don't want to spend on another TV which probably won't work.
