What should I do with my portable TV after the changeover to digital?

My portable TV cost 100 bucks from radio shack. It can't take cable-in, so the converter box thing is useless. Also, the coupon is only a discount coupon, it probably won't cover the entire cost of a converter box. suggestions? no rca jacks, nothing. the only plug it has is for an ac adaptor.

  1. Well...there's really not a whole lot you can do if it doesn't have any inputs of any sort....sell it or something while you still can!
  2. Hi, I suggest if your tv has the red/yellow/white inputs, buy a converter box from walmart (only $10 after coupon discount) then buy an antenna connect to back of the converter box, use the red/yellow/white cables to input on tv and to the converter box and set the tv to input mode.
  3. If your TV doesn't have composite inputs either, your choices are somewhat limited: 1. Give it to someone in Canada or Mexico. Canada isn't switching over until 8/2011 and Mexico isn't switching over until a long time from now. 2. Give it to me! Seriously. I think I could find a way to make it work with a converter box, perhaps with a couple of capacitors for ground isolation and maybe a matching transformer. But I don't have one to play around with. 3. Wait a while. Someone will probably write an web article on how to match a converter to these portables. With even the smallest converter it would be a bit bulky and they are kind of power hogs for small battery operation. Plus you still need an antenna. 4. Of course, it might break before 2/18/09 in which case it doesn't matter.
  4. After the changeover, throw it away.....
