Can a freeview box work on a portable tv ?

Can a freeview box work on a portable tv and will it also work with just a free standing freeview/digital compatible ariel rather than connecting to the main house roof top ariel?

  1. It will work with any television. Using a small aerial will cause the picture to break up more but it will still work.
  2. Yes, if you are using a small indoor aerial the picture quality wont be fantastic but it will probabaly be watchable.
  3. Assuming you have a scart connection, any TV is OK. You could find that the indoor aerial is not good enough, it depends on how far you are from the nearest transmitter.
  4. it depends on the signal strenghth you are getting on the indoor arial .if it looks fairly good on the basic channells 12345 ,there is a good possibility a freeview will work. my local chineese takeaway use one on a veryvery old portable tv.if you try one and you geta red dot or red square it means no signal but try reloading the freeview box by doing a new installation run. good luck. also you dont need to be able to receive ch 5 on the basic buttons ch5 will come on the free v box.
  5. Yes it will work with a portable tv. My neighbours daughter bought a freeview box for her bedroom but she only had a small indoor aerial and she could not get a picture so she bought an outdoor aerial from B&Q, 14.99, and I put it up in her loft, made a small hole in the loft floor and dropped the cable through and into her bedroom. She now has a perfect picture on all channels. Cheap and very easy to do.
