- yes scart just gives you better picture
- It will still work through the AV lead.
- Yes, you can use the aerial connection. But the aerial will need to be an outside one in most cases.
- it depends on the freeview box.. not all support RF out and scart.. some only do scart only.. i've fitted about 12 for people and noticed that some of the cheaper brands only like scart only. although u could get around that by wacking it thru a video and using the AV channel on that.. if u wanted, as long as u stick to a decent brand , u should be able to tune it in no problem.
- Yes.Just use the aerial.
- Yes. It will have an RF input and output, and the unit will output a picture on a default RF channel. So you just connect a lead from the output to the TV and then tune it to a spare channel.
- It all depends on what free veiw box you have.
- Like some of the others say, it depends on the box, I bought a cheap one from Argos recently, and it works fine, but I couldn't connect it just using the AV socket, I didn't get the picture and sound from it until I bought a scart cable. I remember that when I lived in a flat that had a freeview box when digital TV first started, several years ago, I was able to get freeview without a scart lead and record it to the video. Maybe you should ask another question and get people to tell you which makes and models will work without a scart plug, this will be very useful for all of us who own an old telly without a scart. While the scart connection was just for boosting images with a video, freeview boxes seem to be rather more variable.
- shuud beabletoget an adapterforit
- Yes, but most freeview boxes do not send the signal direct to RF, as others are suggesting. You just need a cable with a scart plug to plug into the freeview box, and A/V plugs to plug into the TV. I have answered your later question with more detail. I have digital TV on an old (1980's) black and white portable TV with only RF input.
