Battery Operated Televisions

I put an old portable TV in the bin this morning and the bin man took it away without looking.?

My question is how long will it take a portable TV to completely rot away to nothing in a landfill.

  1. That's 'cos there was nowt on the telly! Boom boom.

  3. It must have been a smaller one. Most will not take TVs. Car batteries are a no no, too. They say that disposing of a car battery in a trash truck that compacts can catch the truck on fire. I've seen two truck burnt up like that, although, I don't know the cause. I would say given the different amounts of materials in a TV, it would take several hundred years to completely decompose. You have to remember that there's a lot of materials in used TVs that are hazardous to health and the environment.
