Battery Operated Televisions

Can I connect my portable TV to my regular TV?

Time Warner Cable is most likely going to discontinue carrying FOX and the BCS Bowl games are coming up, so I was wondering if I would be able to connect my portable TV w/ built-in digital tuner to my regular TV. The problem with this is the portable only has COAX input and A/V input. Is there a way to change either one to output? If not; any suggestions? I have a laptop so should I get a TV tuner or projector, etc..? and what equipment would I need?

  1. No.
  2. you could just get a new HDTV, they are going cheap now, and have a good outdoor antenna set up and get free HD channels, and ditch time warner. You can also use your computer to watch channels from antenna, but you would have to spend a 100 bucks almost to buy the tuner for your computer. I would just save for a hdtv.

The easiest way to do this is to buy a converter box to connect between a TV antenna and your TV. For about $30 on e-bay you can get a used Zenith or Insignia model converter. These are about the best. If your portable Tv's antenna works ok at your location, a $10 rabbit ear antenna will probably be ok at the same spot. You could use a laptop with a USB tuner if your TV has an input that matches your laptop's video out. For example if your TV has a VGA input and your laptop has a VGA video output.
